MICHAEL HUGHES - Founder
Mike was the founder of M P Hughes & Sons and qualified as a plasterer in 1965.
He completed a fully approved apprenticeship with Shones of Buckley, North Wales.
Following his apprenticeship completion, Mike decided to set up a business of his own. In 1987 he made the decision to move to the Reading area, where the business really thrived.
Mike’s legacy lives on through the passion he instilled in his son and grandsons, who proudly carry forward the values and craftsmanship that built the foundation of this thriving family business.
STUART HUGHES - Director
Stuart began his career by following in his father’s footsteps, joining M P Hughes Plastering Ltd in Buckley, Wales as an apprentice. He qualified as a plasterer in 1979, laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to the trade.
In 1986, after securing a major contract in Aldermaston, Stuart relocated permanently to the Reading area to expand the business.
Today, he serves as a Director of M P Hughes & Sons, playing a key role in both the day-to-day operations and client relations.
Stuart primarily oversees the commercial side of the business, managing large-scale projects for prominent building corporations. His experience, dedication, and personal approach continue to drive the company’s reputation for quality and reliability.
DANIEL HUGHES - Director
Continuing a proud family tradition, Daniel chose to follow in the footsteps of both his father and grandfather.
After completing a full apprenticeship with M P Hughes & Sons Ltd, he qualified in 2009 and has since become an integral part of the company’s leadership.
As one of our Directors and a Site Manager, Daniel works closely alongside Stuart to oversee large-scale contracts, ensuring every project meets our exacting standards. He also plays a key role in the day-to-day operations, managing relationships with major contractors and driving the business forward with the same passion and commitment that defines our legacy.
LLOYD HUGHES - Site Supervisor
Lloyd became a fully qualified plasterer in 2014 after successfully completing a comprehensive apprenticeship with M P Hughes & Sons Ltd.
Since then, he has become a key member of our team, working closely with Stuart and Daniel across a wide range of domestic and commercial projects.
As Site Supervisor, Lloyd oversees our tailored domestic and single site contracts. His attention to detail, passion, and hands-on experience ensure that every project is delivered to the highest standard, no matter the size.
JOY SUMMERILL - Business Development Manager
Joy has been an integral part of M P Hughes & Sons since 2012.
Overseeing all aspects of accounting and business administration, her role also extends beyond the office.
Joy regularly conducts site visits, carries out quality control checks, and liaises directly with project managers.
